2.5 Compensation
Currently, Congress sets the compensation for the President. This puts the compensation in the area of political debate and decisions which can only cause problems.
The New Constitution corrects this problem. First, in the definition of terms in the Preamble, there is a definition of compensation:
“Compensation” includes current and future monies accrued or paid to a Person by the United States, plus items of value accrued or paid for by the United States including, but not limited to, living expenses, health care and retirement benefits.
In the New Constitution, the House of Representatives can recommend a change in compensation for the President and Vice President. The recommend is given to The People and The People vote “yes” or “no” on the recommendation. In a binding referendum, the “owners” now approve the compensation of its President and Vice President.
This Section also approves ten days of vacation a year for each for the President and Vice President.
Section 1.7 also requires a binding referendum for approval of compensation for members of Congress.

2.4 Succession in Office
This section deals with what to do if the President cannot or will not fulfill the duties of the office. Essentially this section combines the statements dealing with this issue in Section 1 Article 2 of the original Constitution and in Amendment 20. The logistical issue is complex and not easy to express in words; a decision chart would work better but is not appropriate in this form of document.

2.3 Process for Election
For years, people have been saying we need to get rid of the so-called Electoral College; this section gets rid of Electors and replaces them with a popular vote of The People.
It does require that Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates run as a team but makes no mention of political parties. Neither the original Constitution nor its Amendments mention political parties. The only requirements are the candidates must both “be 35 years of age at the time of taking office, and been a resident of the United States for at least 14 years at the time of taking office.”
The controversial term “oath” has been removed from the reference to inauguration and been replaced with a more specific phrase which is legally binding versus spiritually binding.

2.2 Terms of Office
Under the New Constitution, “The President holds the office during a single term of eight years and may serve only one term as President.”
Our current system of two 4-year terms has the President running for office the last 2-3 years of his first term which results in everything being driven by election politics for at least half of his first term. The question quickly becomes, “Is the President making decisions that are best for the country or best of getting re-elected.” Politics has become more important than the nation. The political oligarchy prevails.
One eight year term will help retard this political atmosphere while giving a President enough time to begin implementation of some of his ideas. It also means The People need to be serious, instead of political, in choosing a President because the President will be in office for eight years.
The Vice President, of course, is elected for the same eight year term.
